Opal is the second in my series on wild mustangs (see first one - jewel) on a 20" x 20" canvas. It is also my first formal painting using Oil instead of the usual Acrylic. I am falling in love with Oil as the medium and planning on using it more and more. Cannot wait to start another in the same series !!!

This is my first attempt at an animal painting. Inspired by the wild mustangs we saw on our visit to the outerbanks, 'Jewel' is a tribute to the efforts across the country to preserve and protect these free roaming horses.
