How can you make finding T.V. shows easier?
Creating an visual way to quickly compare and learn about anime shows
Have you ever been stuck searching for a new TV show to watch for hours on end? Well now, you can quell your boredom by consulting "The Samurai of Shows" posters!
When looking for a new show to watch, it often becomes tiring to search up reviews, ratings, themes, and more for each show you consider. I wanted to make this process easier by depicting these data sets in a visual and easy-to-compare manner. I focused on anime shows to narrow down the possible data.
I made a guide poster to show how to read the information and one poster for each of the four demographics in anime.
I first categorized the information people look for when finding new shows, like the demographic, genre, themes, and time period it was made in.
I picked one show from each of the four demographics and found data like IMDB ratings, MyAnimeList rankings, manga sales, awards, and more. This way, there could be an objective comparison as well.
After trying different ways to represent the shows, I decided on creating a samurai character whose attributes represent the theme, genre, and more to make the comparison more uniform. For the statistics, I only used IMDB ratings as the other datasets were inconsistent.
